About the Guernsey Mind / GFC partnership

We are delighted to confirm our 3-year partnership with GFC. Nationally, Mind UK is the charity partner of the English Football League (EFL). For the first time, players shirts have been allowed to feature a charity logo. Locally, we will be replicating this, with the Guernsey Mind logo featuring on the GFC shirts. We will be working together for 3 years to raise awareness of positive mental health in football.

About Team Talk

Guernsey Mind launched its Team Talk campaign in 2017 to raise awareness of positive mental health in sport. Team managers, coaches, support staff and players all have a responsibility to look out for each other's mental wellbeing, and to create a positive and inclusive environment for everyone.

The launch of the Team Talk campaign was supported by a team of Ambassadors who are all well-known across the sports scene in Guernsey. Since the launch we have recruited 5 new Ambassadors and are keen to recruit more.

We are encouraging local sports to engage with us and take positive steps to be open about mental health. In support of this, we offer a 1.5hr workshop which focuses on mental health awareness within sport. The workshop is designed for coaches, managers, volunteers and athletes alike. Our vision is of a society that has a positive attitude towards mental wellbeing and where the community embraces respect for all. Our goal is to promote positive mental health for the community by campaigning locally to improve services, raise awareness and encourage understanding.

Everyone with a mental health condition has their own experiences and needs, not one approach fits all. By encouraging a better understanding of mental health issues within our community we make it easier for people to get the right help, as early as possible. We believe in an individual’s resilience and ability to recover if given access to the right support options, these include self-help, talking therapies, medication and a supportive work and family environment.
