Ryan-Zico Black could finally make his 200th game for the club having received a call-up from Tony Vance for Sunday’s Isthmian South Central bottom-three clash with Staines Town.

The midfielder last appeared for the club in December 2018, his 199th appearance. He was actually recalled to the squad in February 2020 for the game against Burgess Hill Town that was postponed due to Covid, with the rest of the season cancelled due to the pandemic.

There was then another season without action for the Green Lions, meaning Zico has had to wait a long time for this chance and will hoping for some pitch time to hit that milestone. He would become only the eighth player to reach that landmark after Jamie Dodd, Matt Loaring, Dominic Heaume, Ross Allen, Dave Rihoy, Alex Le Prevost and Chris Tardif.

The veteran joins a squad looking to end a run of five straight defeats and a winless run of eight games that sees them sit in 18th place. Thomas Dodds also returns after missing the Ashford Town defeat due to a knock picked up against Marlow. Charlton Gauvain is also available again after suspension, while Glenn Le Tissier keeps his place after coming on against Ashford for his first appearance since the two he made in 2011. Frank Tobin is also available again.

The full squad is as follows: Addison, Kelly, McKane, Tobin, Dodd, Le Tocq, Dodds, Black, L Mahon, Acey, Gauvain, Loaring, Canha, Le Tissier, Allen, Smith.

The Swans are just one place above GFC in 17th, and a win could take the Green Lions up to 16th, depending on how Northwood do against Binfield on Saturday. A run of six games without a win, and only two in the league all season prompted the Surrey side to change their manager, who got them a win in over Chipstead in his first game in charge.

Sunday’s match kicks off at 2pm. Fans unable to make it to Footes Lane can catch highlights on GFCTV in the days following the game, and there will also be a full match report on GuernseyFC.com.
