Saturday's now-postponed meeting with Binfield should have been Carlos Canha’s last game for us, after three years with GFC, before he leaves the island for new adventures. We caught up with some of his teammates, and manager Tony Vance, so they could share some special messages with us about what it has meant to them having Carlos on the squad.

Ross Allen: I’m really going to miss Carlos. We haven’t played together all that much, but it’s been a joy to get to know him since my return. He’s such a big asset to the team and we will really feel his loss out on the field, and to the group environment as a whole. I will miss my training hugs, Amigo!

Matt Loaring: I wish Carlos all the very best for his next adventure. It’s been a pleasure sharing the field with him over the last few years. He is an outstanding player and a genuinely nice guy. The team will miss him both on and off the pitch. All the best, Carlito!

Ben Le Tocq: I’ll miss King Carlos, the energy and happiness he brings always puts a smile on my face. Over the past few years I’ve been lucky to play with him at Rovers and now with GFC. There’s not many players with a first touch like Carlos and he loves a near post goal. Adios amigo, wishing you all the best for the future!

Thomas Dodds: Carlos will be a huge loss for GFC. He’s so technically gifted but has the work rate to match. It will be sad to lose such a good player and also a friend, hopefully he will be back one day!

Tony Vance, GFC Manager: I am so gutted! Carlos is first and foremost an amazing person and quite possibly the nicest and most genuine I have met in football. He cares SO much and on top of that he is an outstanding footballer, with passion, desire and class. He gives everything when he plays, so infectious, individually his technique is of a very high level but he is also the complete team player. I am going to miss you so much, Amigo.
