ASHFORD TOWN 1 (Rogers 90')
Guernsey equalled their club-record longest losing streak of eight games after they were stunned at the death by Ashford Town at Footes Lane for the second year in a row.
The Green Lions were once again punished for not making the most of the openings they created and were stunned when Nathan Rogers popped up in the last minute to steal all three points.
A lack of a finishing touch has cost the Sarnians several points since the start of the season and their luck in front of goal needs to change quickly before they are cut adrift.
It looks promising in the first half. Keene Domaille blazed over after Owen Wallbridge had beaten two men and cut the ball back, and Toby Mawer smothered at the feet of Sam Murray after a great pass from deep by Kieran Mahon.
The woodwork was Matt Loaring’s enemy yet again this season as his effort cannoned off the crossbar and bounce down on the line and clear.
A rare chance from the visitors just after the hour saw Scott Day fire over, while Murray couldn’t keep his header on target as he met a cross form Niall Hainsworth.
Then it happened as the clock ticked towards 90 minutes as substitute Nathan Rogers got on the end of a ball in behind and poked it past the onrushing Josh Addison to stun Footes Lane.
Guernsey dropped one place to 20th in the Isthmian South Central table. Saturday’s other results were as follows: Ascot United 1-3 Hanworth Villa, Badshot Lea 4-2 Chipstead, Binfield 2-5 Hartley Wintney, Chertsey Town 3-0 Metropolitan Police, Raynes Park Vale 1-0 Northwood, Southall 3-2 South Park, Sutton Common Rovers 0-3 Westfield, Thatcham Town 1-2 Corinthian-Casuals, Uxbridge 1-3 Leatherhead.
