Guernsey’s decade-long history reaches another milestone this weekend with Ashford Town set to become the 100th different opponent the Green Lions have faced in competitive action since 2011.
A century of teams faced comes in the Green Lions’ 418th competitive game. Matt Loaring and Josh Addison are pushing for returns after missing the midweek defeat at Marlow. Thomas Dodds and Tom Strawbridge both picked up injuries in that game and will miss the trip.
A winless November sees the Sarnians enter the Christmas period in 16th place in Isthmian South Central, and they could jump up one place with a win if Tooting & Mitcham United were to lose against Chalfont St Peter.
They would also move within two points of their opponents, who have won four, drawn one and lost nine of their 14 league games so far. Those wins include their last outing, taking the three points from Northwood last Saturday.
Not to be confused with Ashford United, who Tony Vance’s side has faced a few times over the past few years, this Middlesex-based side. Having also spent timed in the Combined Counties League, the Tangerines were promoted to the Southern League in 2016 before being transferred to the Isthmian League in 2018.
Saturday’s match kicks off at 3pm. As per broadcasting rules, pictures cannot be shown live, but fans unable to make it to the Robert Parker Stadium can keep up with live audio-only coverage on GFCTV, and catch highlights later in the weekend as well as read a full match report.
