The 2024 U21 Muratti on Sunday has prompted a few changes in Tony Vance's squad for the visit of Hanworth Villa to Footes Lane on Saturday.
Fin Du Port, Jacques Cauvin, Brandon Wallace, Owen Wallbridge, Zach Gilman and Emerson Nobes are all part of Dave Merris and Dave Rihoy's squad for the Ambassadeur Bowl, which kicks off at 1pm at Springfield on Sunday. Guernsey are out to retain the trophy, having won 2-1 at Footes Lane last year thanks to goals from Jack Griffin and Keene Domaille.
That means they won't be taking part in the Green Lions' Isthmian South Central clash. Sam Murray is also unavailable and Charlton Gauvain is suspended having picked up his fifth booking of the season last weekend, but U21s coach Merris is included. That means some recalls, a new face and the return of an old favourite.
Captain Jamie Dodd has declared himself fit for the squad, having only featured against Leatherhead in September, when he was forced off with an injury. Oscar Leadbeater also gets a recall.
The new face is midfielder Frazer Maginnis, who has represented St Martin's in the Priaulx League over the last few years and represented the island at youth level.
Returning is former Fans' and Coaches' Player of the Year Jacob Fallaize, who is currently back in Guernsey. He last appeared for the Sarnians at the beginning of last season and has made 108 appearances for the club.
Ross Allen continues to chase 300 goals for the club, while Matt Loaring sets off on the road to 500 appearances, having reached 400 against Hayes & Yeading United last weekend.
This is an early return fixture, with Guernsey having lost out to a late goal from Villa top scorer Finlay McNab at Rectory Meadow in September.
The Green Lions could move up one place to 20th with a win should Ashford Town fail to beat Leatherhead, but are chasing a first win since September - their sole win this campaign. The Villains have won three of their last six and are just outside the play-offs. A masterclass from Sam Merson, son of former Arsenal star Paul, helped Hanworth to a 5-0 win at Footes Lane last season.
Saturday's match kicks off at 2pm. Fans unable to make it to Footes Lane can listen to full live commentary on our @GuernseyFC X space, and follow text updates on our social media pages.
