MONEYFIELDS 4 (Franklin 14'; Laycock 33'; Cooper 73'; Mahhammedkier 90+1')
GUERNSEY 1 (Arnold 67')
A depleted Guernsey side put up a good fight but were seen off comfortably in the end by the league's in-form team.
The Moneys made it eight wins on the bounce to go just three points off the play-offs, surviving a second-half rally in which Simon Arnold scored his first goal for GFC to bring them back into the game.
Without Jamie Dodd, Matt Loaring, Ross Allen, Josh Addison and others, it was a young side up against it but the Green Lions could have been ahead inside two minutes as Charlton Gauvain found himself behind the defence after breaking into the box, but Guernsey's captain for the day dragged wide when one-on-one.
The hosts took the lead inside 15 minutes as James Franklyn converted from close range after Lucas Hanley, rejoining the club to help with our current goalkeeper shortage, had saved Ciaran Martin's initial effort.
Brandon Wallace was enjoying a new central role and teed up Gauvain for a chance on 20 mintues but Callum Smart was equal to it.
Moneyfields captain Callum Laycock beat Hanley to a low cross at the near post to make it 2-0 shortly after the half-hour. GFC almost responded quickly but Sam Murray's shot was deflected into the side netting. Laycock nearly made it three early in the second half but despite beating Hanley, the effort trickled wide via the post.
The Green Lions were afforded a way back into the contest when the quick feet of Wallace drew a foul from his marker in the 18-yard box. Unfortunately, Gauvain tried to be too clever with his stuttering run-up and his effort was weak enough to be stopped on the line by Smart, who had won the mind games.
Arnold's goal quickly cancelled out that disappointment, though, and his first for the club was a belter as he latched onto Wallace's low centre, rounded his man and lashed the ball across goal past Smart from a tight angle midway through the half.
But any hopes of a comeback were snuffed out just six minutes later. Perhaps the messages of a change in shape or roles hadn't filtered through after a substitution, which left Lawrence Cooper free at the far post to turn home Martin's cross.
The icing on the cake for the hosts came as the game had just passed its full 90, with Franklyn beating the offside trap as Jacob Fallaize tried to step out, and squared for substitute Jafer Mahammedkier to roll the ball past Hanley.
Next up for the Green Lions is a tough trip to Leatherhead, where Steve Sharman and Kevin Gilligan will hope to have some reinforcements back. There was a major plus in the return to the pitch of defender Tom Vaudin following his head injury in November.
The other results were kind to GFC meaning we remain 20th on goal difference. Saturday's other games finished as follows: Hanworth Villa P-P Farnham Town, Harrow Borough 4-1 Binfield, Hartley Wintney 5-1 Uxbridge, Leatherhead 3-2 Metropolitan Police, Rayners Lane 2-3 Ascot United, Raynes Park Vale P-P Hayes & Yeading United, South Park (Reigate 1-2 Kingstonian, Southall 4-2 Sutton Common Rovers, Westfield 3-2 Badshot Lea.
