Niall Hainsworth Is a new name on the lips of the GFC faithful, but judging by the early promise he has shown, it’s a name we’re all hoping to be using a lot more in the future for all the right reasons! Here’s what Niall had to say to our media team as he came off the pitch after our 2-0 defeat at Hartley Wintney.

I thought we played well in stages. They were a very good side, very good players. I mean, their wingers especially and their centre mid I thought were very good, but I felt that we dealt with it well. I mean at times this season we’d have just given in to those kinds of teams, but today I don’t think we gave in at all, and there are definitely positives to work on going on to our next big game.

I’ve been training with Guernsey FC for a while now but obviously have only come in to play for the team these last few weeks. I’ve really thoroughly enjoyed it so far! I mean, the level is so much different to playing local football, more fast paced and a bit more pressure on you to perform. It’s really nice to play different players every week, with their different styles, and the type of coaching is really taking you to the next level. I really enjoy it.

There was quite a bit of fight from the lads today and we have some big games coming up, so hopefully we’re quite well set to pick up some points. Corinthinan-Casuals, are up next which is obviously a big game.

Being honest though, I think footballing-wise we’re one of the better teams in the league. I think we’ve really just got that belief that we can go on and score goals and win games. We’re playing some great football and in terms of the goals and the points, well, I think it will come. I mean, next week is a massive game and we’ve got to get some points there, but later on this season I think, if we keep playing the way we’re playing, we’re going to really start getting some results.

Now I’ve had a taste of Isthmian League football, I’m definitely committed for the rest of this season now. I think we’ve got a good squad, a good set of players, and I feel we can definitely work with the players we’ve got to build something really good here.
