Guernsey could move back out of the Isthmian South Central relegation zone in a six pointer with survival rivals Ashford Town on Saturday.

The Green Lions can also get their own back on their visitors having been soundly beaten 5-0 at their place just over a week ago, a result that dragged the Sarnians back into the dropzone and only ahead of Ashford on goals scored. We have now dropped below the Tangerines on goal difference after last weekend's results.

A win is needed ahead of tough back-to-back away trips to the two sides left in contention for the league title - Kingstonian and Farnham Town.

There will be plenty of experience in Steve Sharman and Kevin Gilligan's defensive options with club captain Jamie Dodd available again to compete with Dave Merris, Jacob Fallaize, Tom Vaudin and Tom Dodds for spot in the backline. Jacques Cauvin and Ross Allen are also in contention for selection again after missing the trip to Moneyfields last weekend. The team will also be without Matt Loaring for a while longer.

Back-to-back defeats against the above two clubs spoiled GFC's unbeaten start to the year, but they could still jump three places with a win depending on other results. Another fixture to look out for is Sutton Common Rovers v South Park (Reigate), where a draw would best suit us.

Ashford's win over Guernsey earlier this month is their only victory in six games so far in 2025. They are somewhat of a bogey team for the Green Lions, winning six of the seven meetings between the sides, two of those coming with goals beyond the 90th minute (including last season's visit) at Footes Lane.

Saturday's match kicks off at 2pm. Fans unable to make it to Footes Lane can listen to full live commentary on our @GuernseyFC X Space or follow the updates posted to our social media channels. GFCTV highlights will be uploaded to our YouTube and social media channels, with a full match report on the website.
