Guernsey are finally back in action tomorrow as they head to South London to face Tooting & Mitcham United.

The Green Lions have been Covid-stricken over the last few weeks, that led to the postponement of fixtures against Binfield, South Park, Bedfont Sports and Chalfont St Peter.

Goalkeeper Callum Stanton, defender Jacob Fallaize and midfielder Tom Jackson could all make their first appearances since re-joining the club over the Christmas period.

Tony Vance’s side will be keen to get revenge for the late defeat in the reverse fixture at Footes Lane in October, which the Sarnians led through a Ross Allen penalty and were holding their visitors at bay only to be suckerpunched by two goals in two minutes inside the final 10 minutes.

GFC’s last visit to Imperial Fields was in September 2016, when at 2-0 down against a high-flying South London side on route to the Isthmian South title, Jack Domaille stunned the hosts with two goals in the final 16 minutes to snatch an unlikely point on a Tuesday night.

Guernsey’s last outing, a 6-2 dismantling of Staines Town, ended a run of eight games without a win, and five straight defeats. The Christmas postponements mean we are several games behind most of the division, as we were when our season kicked off late in October. A win could see us jump two places to 16th.

The Terrors have played five times in the league since Guernsey last took to the field, winning one and losing four. Dan Williams is their top scorer with 14 goals. They are 11th and would require a large goal swing to overtake Ashford Town in 10th.

Saturday’s match kicks off at 12.45pm. Fans in Guernsey can watch full live coverage on GFCTV, and we are pleased to confirm that the Hockey Club have agreed to open up ‘Le Lion Vert’ for fans to congregate to watch the game live. We ask that you only attend if you have a negative lateral flow test result from earlier in the day, and wear a mask when standing at the bar to order a drink. Highlights will follow over the weekend, along with a full match report on the website.
