Matt Loaring

A very talented, skillful and versatile attacking-minded midfielder, effective both out wide and through the middle. Matt burst onto the Guernsey scene during the 2011 International Island Games in the Isle of Wight where he played a prominent role in what was his first real taste of playing for the Guernsey senior team. His highlight was undoubtedly scoring a fantastic solo goal in the final to take the match into extra time. He has been a regular in representative squad since and help Guernsey to gold in Jersey in 2015.

As a junior, Matt had trials at Watford, Leeds United and Grimsby, has great close control and low centre of balance and a decent goalscoring record.

Loaring is one of the highest appearance makers for for GFC is on the verge of reaching the 300 mark. His total would be far higher if it wasn't for a handful of niggling injuries. His goals-to-game ratio is impressive for someone who has played mainly midfield and he is fourth in the all-time list.

He has gone from a promising youngster to a key player in Tony Vance's side. He is almost always available for those difficult midweek away trips and one of the club's best players when running with the ball at the opposition defence.
