Tom Strawbridge

A dependable centre-back who is strong in the air and comfortable on the ball, Strawbridge was with GFC from the club's inception. He was crucial in the successful promotion push from CCL Division one in our first season, but decided to concentrate on local Priaulx League football during 2012-13 due to personal reasons.

However, he returned when GFC faced their brutal fixture pile-up in the final weeks and made a big contribution as Tony Vance's side secured back-to-back promotions. Injuries limited his involvement in the side during the 2013/14 season and the beginning of the 2014/15 campaign, but he returned to again become an important figure, once even figuring as an emergency goalkeeper in the following season.

Strawbridge took another break in 2016 to concentrate on playing locally, helping Rovers to their first ever Priaulx League title and then leading the Port Soif side as captain as they defended their crown a year later.

Having had a break of three seasons, 'Strawbs' returned to GFC in the summer of 2019. His second game of that season saw him become the 20th player to reach a century of appearances for the club.

He has played in four Island Games tournaments for Guernsey, winning a bronze, silver (twice) and gold. He has also appeared for the island's representative side in the Muratti.
