Guernsey started 2014 in the best possible when on a night when absolutely everything went for them as they produced their record winning margin that will likely never be beaten.

There is sympathy for Crawley Down as things have taken a downward turn since their good start to the season, with their budget cut and players leaving, leaving them with an extremely inexperienced side for the New Year's Day trip to Footes Lane.

But that doesn't take anything away from the ruthlessness of the Green Lions. Ross Allen scored an unprecedented six as Tony Vance's side ran riot.

Allen had completed a hat-trick by half-time, with Glyn Dyer getting the other two - including lashing in a brilliant strike to open the scoring.

Second-half substitutes Nigel Hutton, Ryan-Zico Black and Marc McGrath all registered after the break, with Allen getting a second treble to make it that happiest of new years for the home fans.
