Guernsey were good value for a hard-earned point against Thamesmead Town at a rain-soaked Footes Lane. However, they had to come from a losing position twice in order to earn it, racking up their 400th goal at Footes Lane in the process.

The home side started slowly, and having been caught offside a couple of times already, visiting forward Paul Vines managed to time his run perfectly in the 13th minute and get through one-on-one with Callum Stanton in the Guernsey goal. He drove at goal and finished nicely towards the far post.

Seven minutes later, Guernsey’s on-loan striker Kelechi Akpobire did well to earn a corner as he ran on to Jacob Fallaize's inch-perfect throughball and forced Lewis Carey to parry behind with a low shot from the edge of the area. The ball in was nodded down at the far post by Fallaize, who was imperious in the air all game, and Jamie Dodd reacted quickest to stab the ball home from six yards out to level the scores.

However, within a minute the visitors regained the lead. A long ball from the right found Alex Le Prevost outnumbered two to one. Rather than firing at goal himself, Vines opted to unselfishly nod the ball down for his teammate Danny Parish, who fired home.

Thamesmead held the lead going into half time, however just three minutes after the restart Guernsey would have the chance to regain parity from the penalty spot.

Some good pressure from Guernsey on the left hand side resulted in a pass into the box which Thomas Dodds reached ahead of the defender, before being brought down for a penalty. Akpobire stepped up and netted with a well-taken penalty that beat the keeper low to his left to mark his home debut with his first goal for the club, becoming GFC's 40th different scorer in the process and notching the Green Lions 400th competitive goal at the Lane.

Guernsey pressed for a winner in the closing stages and looked the more likely, with Dave Rihoy coming so close to marking his 200th appearance with his 70th goal had it not been for the ball striking the foot of the far post and Dom Heaume headed wide with the last chance of the game. but proceedings were brought to a close with the scores level at 2-2.

The Green Lions remain 20th in Bostik South with the rest of the weekend results as follows: Chipstead 2-2 Molesey, Corinthian-Casuals 2-0 Horsham, East Grinstead 1-1 Faversham Town, Greenwich Borough 1-3 VCD Athletic, Hastings United 2-1 Ashford United, Hythe Town 6-0 Shoreham, Phoenix Sports 2-5 Whyteleafe, Ramsgate 1-2 Cray Wanderers.
