Matt Loaring’s appearance against Bracknell Town was his 300th for the Green Lions. Matt became only the second player to reach this impressive milestone after our current leading appearance holder, Jamie Dodd, who has played for the club 317 times to date.
Doddie was full of praise for Matt. “Matty has been a massive part of the GFC journey from the outset. At first he was an extremely talented youngster trying to break into the first team, and soon he became a reliable mainstay member of the squad. He conducts himself very well on and off the field and to reach 300 games is a credit to him. He is still hungry to play and is turning in good performances so I’m sure there are many more to come. He now has a lot of experience, which he can pass on to the younger members of the squad!”
Our leading goalscorer, Ross Allen, who is currently on 261 appearances and 259 goals, echoed Doddie’s sentiments. “Matt continues to be an incredible asset to Guernsey FC. 300 games is a fantastic achievement and shows how reliable and consistent he’s been in his commitment to the club. I’ve always loved sharing the pitch with him and hope I can help him reach his next target of 100 goals!”
Matt is currently on 77 goals, and we’re hoping Ross and Matt can continue their great synergy for years to come!
Teammate Tom Dodds, who was 13 when Matt made his first appearance, was full of admiration: “To reach 300 games shows the dedication, commitment and great attitude that Matty has towards GFC. He’s got a good goals record, is very versatile and is one of the most naturally talented players I’ve played with. Hopefully there’s many more appearances and goals to come yet!”

Matt has been involved since the very beginning and this is a testament to the significant commitment he has shown to the club.
