Guernsey will face two brand new opponents and are re-united with some old friends with the list of Isthmian South Central teams for 2022-23 confirmed.
New on the Green Lions fixture list are Ascot United and Metropolitan Police. Ascot were promoted as champions of the Combined Counties Premier Division (North). Their ground is based on the site of the famous Ascot Racecource in Berkshire. Metropolitan Police finished eighth in the Southern League Premier Division South, a step above, but took voluntary relegation due to a variety of off-field challenges.
As for old friends, Raynes Park Vale (champions) and Badshot Lea (runners up) have both been promoted from the Combined Counties Premier Division (South). GFC faced both in 2012-13 winning 4-3 (h) and 5-1(a) against Raynes Park and playing out two 1-1 draws with Badshot. Hartley Wintney are also old opponents from both 2011-12 (sharing promotion with the Sarnians) and 2012-13. They since progressed higher into the Southern League Premier Division South, but were relegated after finishing bottom in April. We also faced them in a friendly at Vale Rec’s Corbet Field last summer, losing 3-0.
Corinthian-Casuals will also be another familiar name. We faced them 10 times at Step Four before their promotion to the Isthmian Premier Division in 2018. They are back with us after relegation in April.
