Reliable midfielder returns

Thomas Dodds returns to boost both Tony Vance’s defensive and midfield options for tomorrow’s visit of Hanwell Town to Footes Lane.

Dodds turned his ankle in the 1-0 defeat to Westfield in January and has missed the last eight games.

There is also a recall for Ben Acey, who was rested in midweek, as well as midfielders Seb Skillen and Liam Mahon.

The Green Lions, with four wins from their last eight, are facing Hanwell for the first time and would move up to 13th with a win, should Thatcham Town lose on Saturday, but they are taking on one of the league’s big hitters, who are fourth and chasing promotion. They could end up anywhere between third and 6th by the end of the day, depending on Saturday’s results. The Geordies have had a bit of a wobble recently, with one win in sixth.

In January, they put 12 past Staines Town and are the second-highest scorers in Isthmian South East. They also boast two the division’s top-six scorers in Tom Collins (22) and Ogo Obi (17).

They are nicknamed as such as they were by a group of natives of Newcastle-upon-Tyne, who were working in the Hanwell area, in 1920. They adopted the famous black and white stripes of Newcastle United as their colours.

Fans can once again pocket a cash prize and raise money for charity if they enter into a draw by purchasing a ticket from Guernsey Mind on the way into the ground. The lucky person picked out will get to take a penalty at half time for the chance to win.

Sunday’s match kicks off at 2pm. Fans unable to make it to Footes Lane can catch highlights on GFCTV in the days following the game, and there will be a full match report on the website.
