Guernsey’s survival battle continues with the visit of Kingstonian in our final home game of the season on Easter Monday.
The Green Lions are a step behind again having had their trip to Binfield on Saturday frustratingly postponed due to flight problems, but they know as things stand they need a minimum of two wins from their final three games to stand a chance of surviving.
Ashford Town and Sutton Common Rovers are now confirmed as relegated after Saturday’s results and Horndean took a heavy defeat, but there was frustrating news that South Park upset the odds by beating Leatherhead while Metropolitan Police scored in injury time to snatch a point against Harrow Borough.
One blessing from Saturday’s postponement is that Tony Vance was a little light on resources but has a wider selection of options on Monday, and hopefully for the two final away trips.
The Sarnians are unbeaten in four games as they look to scrap their way to safety but know there is still much work to be done and the situation is still out of their hands.
Kingstonian still have plenty to fight for. Despite a comfortable win on Saturday and their win over GFC in the reverse fixture a few weeks ago, their form has generally fallen off a cliff to the point where they have gone from bring the only realistic challengers to Farnham Town to now a battle to even hold onto a play-off place. They lost five in a row before Saturday’s win and could end the bank holiday weekend anywhere between third and seventh in a tight play-off battle.
GFC will remain 21st even with a win but could close the gap to safety to two points with two to play.
Monday’s match kicks off at 2pm. Fans unable to make it to Victoria Park can listen to full live commentary on our @GuernseyFC X Space and follow our usual social media updates. A full match report will follow on the website.
Victoria Avenue will be closed to public traffic from 1pm until half an hour after the final whistle.
Limited parking is available at the ground on a first come, first served basis BEFORE 1pm. There are more than 100 bicycle parking spaces for active travel, and we also encourage car sharing and public transport to help reduce congestion.
