Lions return home, Lionesses back on the road

It’s another Guernsey FC bumper weekend with both our senior teams in action.

Tony Vance’s Green Lions are back at home for the first time in more than a month on Saturday as they look to bounce back from their defeat to Little Common a fortnight ago. They host Midhurst & Eastbournem who have already played three games more than the Sarnians but have one win, two draws and four defeats from their first seven games. The Stags finished 11th last season.

GFC are ninth having played less games than almost all the teams above them. They could end the day as high as fifth and as low as 12th.

Jacob Fallaize is back after a knee complaint and will likely go clear of Tom Strawbridge into 20th outright in the club’s all-time appearance list. Ross Allen is also available again after a trip away, but Matt Loaring (knee) and Jacques Cauvin (foot) remain sidelined. Tom Vaudin and Simon Arnold are unavailable, while Dave Merris is suspended. There will be a late call on Charlton Gauvain, who injured his shoulder against Bexhill United in the FA Vase.

Saturday’s match kicks off at 2pm. Fans can keep up to date with the latest action on our social media channels. Parking permit holders can access the carpark at Victoria Park from 12.30pm. For more information on getting to the ground, read our handy guide.

Anna Gauvain’s Green Lionesses are at Farnham Town on Sunday afternoon. Farnham won their opening game 4-0 at Havant & Waterlooville and have also progressed in the Women’s FA Cup. They are another new team in the Southern Region Women’s Football League Division One.

GFCW are looking to preserve an unbeaten starting having come from two goals behind to claim a point at Bournemouth Sports Reserves last Sunday. A win would keep Guernsey top of the table having played an extra game.

There could be another debutant for the Sarnians with Ruby Smith now old enough to join up with the squad, while Scarlett Keanneally, Candice Bougourd and Donna Gallienne all set to hit the 20-game milestone.

The full travelling squad is as follows: Steph Batiste, Scarlett Kenneally, Mollie Watson, Scarlett Gallagher, Heidi Dawber, Aimee Ogier, Vicki Rang, Candice Bougourd, Jess Frampton, Donna Gallienne, Ruby Smith, Amy Dallamore, Elise Le Lacheur, Codie Le Flem, Calleigh Hedley.

Sunday’s match kicks off at 2pm. Fans can keep up to date with the latest action on our social media channels.

There will be a full match report for both games.
