Guernsey return the bread and butter of league football on Tuesday night as they travel away to face Lingfield in pursuit of the division’s early front runners.
Tom Dodds is set to make his 250th appearance for the club. He will be only the sixth player to achieve that milestone after Matt Loaring, Jamie Dodd, Ross Allen, Dom Heaume and Dave Rihoy. Charlton Gauvain is aiming to score in his fifth consecutive appearance.
Lingfield are currently in the bottom three having not picked up a win from their opening six games but they have games in hand over a lot of teams above them. Their last outing was a 3-0 defeat to Wick just over a week ago as they were knocked out of the first qualifying round of the FA Vase.
There is an almost full programme of Southern Combination Premier Division fixtures this week. Because they have played less games, the Green Lions can only move up one place to fifth with a win. Stretching back to March, Tony Vance’s side have only lost twice in 15 games.
Josh Addison is unavailable so Jordan Kelly is travelling to don the gloves. From the squad that beat Croydon on Saturday, Ben Solway is now out injured (joining Matt Loaring and Jacques Cauvin on the sidelines), while Callum Le Lachuer and Dave Merris are unavailable, so Simon Arnold comes back in.
Supporters travelling to the game should note that Lingfield are currently on a temporary groundshare with Steyning Town, so the fixture will be played at The Shooting Field in Steyning. The match kicks off at 7.45pm. Fans not travelling can listen to full live commentary on our @GuernseyFC X Space. A full match report will follow on the website.
