Ten games to go, plenty to play for.
Guernsey can close the gap to the top of the Southern Combination Premier Division table to five points if they see off Crawley Down Gatwick at Victoria Park on Saturday afternoon.
The Green Lions are eight points behind Steyning Town with a game in hand, but Steyning are not in action as it’s a catch-up weekend for previous postponements.
With Haywards Heath Town likely to pick up a win against Shoreham and nudge themselves back to the top on goal difference, a win would leave the Sarnians five points behind both teams and a clear task for the final two months of the season. GFC also need to keep the wins coming to ward off Peacehaven & Telscombe, who are just a point behind.
Tony Vance is still without Seb Vance, Matt Loaring and Fin du Port (but the latter two are back in full contact training and due back soon), while a short-term knock means Tom Vaudin is added to the injury list. Frazer Maginnis is away but otherwise everyone else is available to give the management team the kind of selection headache they want.
GFC are still on a strong run of form with 13 wins in their last 15. Will Fazakerley is searching for a 30th goal that would take him clear of Craig Young in the all-time goalscorers list, while Sam Murray is two shy of 60 and Charlton Gauvain one short of 40. Ross Allen needs one more hat-trick to make it 30 games in which he has scored a treble or better.
Crawley Down are on an improved run of form themselves. Having previously gone 11 games without a win in the league, the Sussex side are now unbeaten in five, including three wins that have taken them nine points clear of the relegation zone. Oli Leslie is their leading scorer with 17 goals, while Will Harley appears to be a new signing and has helped his team’s cause with four goals in his first five games, all during this unbeaten run.
The reverse fixture saw Murray bag one of his hat-tricks for the season (Charlton Gauvain, Frazer Maginnis and Brandon Wallace also netted) in a 6-2 win. We have won three of our previous four meetings and the last time Crawley Down came to the island, they were on the wrong end of GFC’s club record win, 11-0, during which Allen scored a double hat-trick.
Saturday’s match kicks off at 2pm. Fans unable to make it to Victoria Park can listen to full live Commentary on Facebook Live or on our @GuernseyFC X Space, as well as keep up to date with our usual social media posts.
The Green Lionesses are back on the road for the first time in five games as they visit AFC Stoneham on Sunday.
Anna Gauvain’s side could draw level on points with a win but have played three games more. The pair played out a draw at Victoria Park in October, with Calleigh Hedley getting an early goal for the Greens. Stoneham have won one of their four league games in 2026, losing two and drawing one.
A win, coupled with a defeat for bottom side Shaftesbury, would leave the Lionesses requiring just two more points to guarantee safety, although that outcome is likely anyway given the current gap.
Ruby Smith is looking to keep up her scoring streak, having netted in three consecutive games, while Kellie Creed could hit double figures for appearance. GFC are hoping to bounce back from a 4-1 defeat to AFC Varsity last weekend.
Scarlett Gallagher is travelling down from university to join up with the squad and there is also a return for Kirstie Marquis. The experienced Jess Frampton and Rochelle Mullen remain out injured. The full squad is as follows: Alana Hockey, Emma Queripel, Mollie Watson, Aimee Ogier, Steph Batiste, Scarlett Kenneally, Scarlett Gallagher, Kellie Creed, Eleanor Jamieson, Candice Bougourd, Donna Gallienne, Katie Robert, Heidi Dawber, Kirstie Marquis, Codie Le Flem, Ruby Smith.
Sunday’s match kicks off at 2pm. Fans not making the trip to Stoneham Lane in Hampshire can watch full live coverage on our YouTube channel or follow the key action through our social media updates.
