Guernsey’s match at Midhurst & Easebourne abandoned

Guernsey’s match at Midhurst & Easebourne was abandoned on Tuesday night due to a serious injury to a home player.

The Green Lions had fallen behind on 15 minutes to an Asad Semi deflected strike, but a quick equaliser from the head of Jacques Cauvin and a goal from Will Fazakerley had turned it around half time.

Cauvin and Fazakerley each got a second within three minutes of each other at the start of the second half to make it 4-1 but with around 25 minutes to go, a Midhurst player landed awkwardly in an innocuous aerial challege, causing a lengthy stoppage and the eventual decision from the referee to call the game off.

That means Guernsey will have to return another midweek to replay the fixture as the result will not stand and the goalscorers’ efforts will not be recorded towards their totals. Charlton Gauvain’s suspension now carries over until the weekend.

Our thoughts are with the Midhurst & Easebourne player and we wish him all the best in his recovery.
