Guernsey FC Devlopment have exited the Jeremie Cup at the semi-final stage after St Martin’s beat them 4-1 at Victoria Park on Wednesday night.
Frazer Maginnis thought he had put Leon Meakin’s side ahead after arriving late to get on the end of a cross from the right, but the goal wasn’t awarded as it was judged to have hit the post rather than the wheel protector in the goal.
Johnson broke the deadlock for Saints on 17 minutes, tapping in after Kelly had saved an initial effort from usual Green Lion George Goubert in the colours of his local club.
Saints doubled their lead just before half-time with a similar effort to Maginnis’ earlier strike, but this one was deemed to have gone in from Goubert.
GFC were back in it within the first minute of the second half as brilliant pressure from Marc McGrath and substitute Fin Patterson led to Seb Sheppard gifting the ball to veteran Ryan-Zico Black, who finishes first time to halve the deficit!
St Martin’s restored their two-goal lead with just over 20 minutes left as Sam Hall evade a few challenges and drove into the box, squaring for Goubert to tap in for his second. Tom Solway secured the win on 79 minutes.
