
Sam Murray ended the season with another hat-trick, picking up three accolades at Guernsey FC’s End-of-Season Awards night at St Pierre Park Hotel on Sunday night.
Having already secured the Golden Boot with an outstanding 33 goals more the club – more than doubling his career total and taking him up to fifth in the all-time list, Murray was also awarded the Coaches’ Player of the Year award and was voted Players’ Player of the Year by his team-mates.
It capped off a fantastic season for the big number nine, who also became the first player to be an ever-present for the club, having featured in all 45 of the Green Lions’ games this season.
Calleigh Hedley’s 16 goals in just eight appearances for Guernsey FC Women saw her join Murray in receiving the Golden Boot, while her fantastic solo strike against Andover New Street.
Will Fazkerley has provided some standout moments this season. In addition to being named Fans’ Player of the Season, his memorable emergency stint in goal against Steyning Town following a red card for Josh Addison was named as Ernie’s Champagne Moment. The Fans’ Women’s Player of the Season went to Green Lionesses captain Candice Bourgourd.
Another great season of progression from teenager Fin Patterson (before he heads off to university) earned him the Young Player of the Year award, while defender Aimee Ogier took the accolade for the Women’s team.
Donna Gallienne also bagged a brace of awards, being named Coaches Player of the Year and Players’ Player of Year for the Green Lionesses.
The Mark Le Tissier Trophy for Outstanding Contribution to the club was posthumously awarded to Richard Robert, who was a steward for the club for many years and sadly died in March. His award was collected by head steward Steve Mahy on the night and presented to Richard’s family at Victoria Park on Monday afternoon.
