Bradbury 3′, 90+1′, 90+6′
Aitken 45+1′

Img Guernsey were far closer to their visitors than the final scoreline suggested as clinical Havant & Waterlooville left Victoria Park with all three points on Sunday.

A bit more luck and slightly better game management at times would have seen the Green Lionesses get a result against the early league leaders.

Having initially turned over an early setback through Codie Le Flem and Amy Dallamore, conceding a stoppage-time equaliser proved a killer blow before an early second-half strike turned the game on its head again.

The Sarnians pushed hard to level and created some promising openings but two very late goals from Havent skewed the scoreline far more than it deserved to be.

It wasn’t the ideal start as Guernsey lost possession in midfield and Havant broke forward before an excellent pass in from the left put Millie Bradbury in behind to finish first time past Alana Hockey.

Donna Gallienne almost equalised instantly with a wicked inswinging corner, but Sara Luce punched it out from under her own crossbar.

The Greens were growing into the game and a quickfire double turned the game around midway through the first half, firstly when Candice Bougourd’s shot was blocked and a ball was slipped into the area for Le Flem to come into off the left and she beat her marker to the ball to find the far corner.

Three minutes later, Ruby Smith ran onto a ball down the line and held off her marker to drive into the box. She got as far as the corner of the six-yard box, where her shot was blocked by Sara Luce, but Dallamore had followed it in and was on had to tap in the rebound for her second goal in as many games.

There was still danger to deal with at the other end as Bradbury got a clear sight of goal from the angle but Hockey dealt with it well at her near post.

Frustratingly, with seconds left of injury time, Guernsey surrendered possession from their own throw-in, and a ball was played in between full-back and centre-back,which Lauren Aitken ran onto and tucked into the far corner.

It proved costly as Havant confirmed their turnaround less than five minutes into the second half, with Charmaine True curling in a free-kick from the corner of the area.

A lack of concentration at the back allowed Bradbury to run in behind but Hockey made a good block, then Aitken got in between full back and centre back again but this time missed the far corner.

Zakiyya Qasim’s throw into the box was headed down and seized upon by Adrienne Leech, but her shot was just over, while Dallamore broke into the clear from a ball forward and shot early, but dragged it just wide.

Hockey made a crucial save to deny Mille McNamara after she had seized onto a loose ball in a dangerous position as the game became more open.

Guernsey were pushing for a leveller, but were undone injury time as Bradbury broke free to slot in her second and seal the points for the visitors.

Leech should perhaps have pulled one back in injury time as the latched onto a loose ball in the right channel but Luce made a good block at her near post.

Havant got a fifth with the last kick of the game after Lambrou was deemed to have controlled a bouncing ball with her arm. Perhaps a tad harsh as she argued her arms were by her side, but it gave Bradbury the chance to bag her hat-trick and make the score look for more lopsided than it deserved to be.

Guernsey dropped to seventh in the Southern Region Women’s Division One South, with Sunday’s other results as follows: AFC Varsity 0-0 AFC Portchester Reserves, Bognor Regis Town 2-0 Bournemouth Sports Reserves, Wimborne Town 1-3 Andover New Street.
