One of Guernsey’s toughest tests of the season awaits on Saturday afternoon as they visit title-chasing Northwood.
The early favourites have slipped in recent weeks with five defeats from their last eight, with the last two being against Leatherhead and Bedfont Sports, two results the Green Lions could have done without.
Tom Vaudin is the only addition to the squad that faced Marlow last weekend, with Kieran Mahon aggrivating a knee injury early in the game that is now likely to keep him out for a few weeks. Will Fazakerley, Joe Alvarez and Charlton Gauvain remain sidelined. Liam Mahon is set to make his 150th league appearances for the club.
Tony Vance is taking a 14-man squad to the mainland, which is as follows: Addison, Marsh, Vaudin, Fallaize, Dodd, Merris, Dodds, L Mahon, Loaring, Hale, Wallace, Allen, Murray, Domaille.
Bedfont’s unexpected win over Northwood on Tuesday means that GFC will remain in the relegation play-off places even if they win, but it would leave the teams immediately above very much within their sites.
GFC remain unbeaten in normal time against Northwood, having beaten them at Footes Lane last season, and earning a draw thanks to a Matt Loaring penalty at the Skyline Stadium. They had previously met in the FA Trophy, from which the Wood progressed on penalties.
