Guernsey captain Jamie Dodd is the most notable return to Tony Vance’s squad as they head to Staines Town on Wednesday night for another important game at the bottom of the table.
Defender Ben Le Tocq and forward Kyle Smith are also back in for the trip to Wheatsheaf Park, where a win for the Green Lions would take them six points clear of the table proppers and further clear of the relegation places.
Thomas Dodds is sidelined for a little longer after injuring his ankle against Westfield, while Liam Mahon is unavailable. Goalkeeper Lucas Hanley will be looking to build on his debut clean sheet against Sutton Common Rovers on Sunday.
The full travelling squad is as follows: Hanley, Marsh, Fallaize, Dodd, Le Tocq, Jackson, K Mahon, Skillen, Acey, Rihoy, Gauvain, Loaring, Le Tissier, Allen, Smith, Fazakerley.
Guernsey earned their biggest win of the season against the Swans at Footes Lane, where half-a-dozen different scorers contributed to a 6-2 triumph, including a first for Ben Acey.
The win over Sutton Common on Sunday was the Sarnians’ first of 2022 and first since beating Staines at Footes Lane. The hosts could draw level on points with GFC should they get the win. They have lost their last four games, including a humbling 12-0 reverse at Hanwell Town in January.
Saturday’s match at Wheatsheaf Park kicks off at 7.45pm. Fans back in Guernsey can catch the action live on GFCTV, and are encouraged to gather at ‘Le Lion Vert’ at the Guernsey Hockey Club at Footes Lane to watch it together. As a courtesy, we would appreciate if you could take an LFT test before coming along. Highlights and a full match report will follow on the website.
