Can Green Lions continue their rise?

Guernsey can have another say in the Isthmian South Central promotion race as they welcome promotion-chasing Uxbridge on Saturday.

Tony Vance welcomes back captain Jamie Dodd, Matt Loaring, forward Will Fazakerley, and right-back Keanu Marsh, who have all missed the last two or three games.

They come in for the unavailable Dave Rihoy, who will have to wait for his 250th appearance; Ben Acey; Kyle Smith; and Kieran Mahon. Charlton Gauvain is suspended. Should GFC be unsuccessful in their appeal against Jacob Fallaize red card on the grounds of mistaken identity, his three-game ban would kick in at Basingstoke Town on Tuesday.

The full squad is as follows: Hanley, Kelly McKane, Marsh, Strawbridge, Fallaize, Dodd, Le Tocq, Dodds, Jackson, Skillen, L Mahon, Loaring, Allen, Domaille, Fazakerley.

Uxbridge, who were transferred to the Isthmian League in 2018, could go as high as third with a win, and are just three strikes away from nothing 900 goals in their history. The Sarnians’ late turnaround at Chalfont St Peter on Tuesday saw them move up to 13th, and they could go one better with three points if Ashford Town fail to win against Bracknell Town (who could win the title this weekend if Chertsey Town fail to win against Hanwell Town).

GFC have won five of their 10 games since the start of February. The pair met for the first time on the mainland earlier this season, with Allen and Kieran Mahon getting the goals in a 3-2 defeat.

Saturday’s match kicks off at 2pm. Fans unable to make it to Footes Lane can catch highlights on GFCTV in the days following the game, and there will be a full match report on the website.
