Can Green Lions end visitors unbeaten start?

Guernsey are aiming to be the first side to beat Chertsey Town in the league when The Curfews visit Footes Lane on Saturday.

The Surrey side have won seven and drawn four of their 11 games so far and were also the team that knocked out near neighbours Jersey Bulls out of the FA Cup in the third qualifying round. Their run was eventually ended by National League side Southend United, a Football League side only last season.

Tony Vance has been able to bolster his squad with several returning players who missed the trip to Uxbridge last week.

In defence, Tom Strawbridge is back, while there are also recalls for Matt Loaring and Robbie Legg. Tom Martin is in the 15-man group after recovering from an illness that has caused him to his the last few games, while Seb Skillen and Tyler McKane keep their places after making their first appearances of the season last weekend.

Unfortunately Kieran Mahon (away) and Kyle Smith (knock) are unavailable but the latter will hopefully be fit to travel to Marlow on Tuesday. Keanu Marsh continues to recover after missing the Uxbridge trip with an injury sustained against Bracknell Town, while Louis Graham is still waiting on confirmation as to the severity of the knee injury he suffered in the same fixture.

The full squad is as follows: Addison, McKane, Tobin, Strawbridge, Le Tocq, Dodds, Martin, L Mahon, Skillen, Gauvain, Acey, Loaring, Canha, Allen, Legg.

The third of four games against teams currently in the top seven, the Green Lions’ run does not get any easier. The Sarnians are searching for a first win in five games. If they get it, they could move as high is 12th in Isthmian South Central depending on other results.

Jake Baxter leads the Surrey side’s goalscoring exploits with a haul of a dozen so far this season. They beat Tooting & Mitcham United 2-1 on Tuesday night. They are managed by former Arsenal, Fulham and Wimbledon midfielder Ian Selley, who played in the Gunners’ 1994 European Cup Winners Cup final victory over Italians Parma.

Saturday’s match kicks off at 2pm. Highlights will be available on GFCTV over the weekend, as well as a match report on the website.
