Guernsey’s bid to bounce back from last weekend’s defeat couldn’t be any harder as they visit runaway leaders Hawywards Heath Town on Saturday in what will be the Green Lions’ 300th game away from Footes Lane or Victoria Park.
The Bluebells have won all 13 league games as well as progress comprehensively in the FA Vase. They are sharing the goals around, demonstrating they are a threat from all areas of the pitch, with as many on 10 players on four goals or more for the campaign. They also have a watertight defence, conceding just five in the league so far and are scoring on average more than three goals a game. They finished fourth last season but lost their play-off semi-final against Eastbourne United.
Tony Vance’s side are sixth in a packed table and could end the weekend anywhere between fourth and 10th. They have the edge in the head-to-head with Haywards Heath from the two years the pair were both in Isthmian South Central, with the Sarnians winning two on top of two draws. That includes a 2-1 win at Hanbury Park in 2019, with Tom Dodds scoring twice and a heroic goalkeeping performance from Callum Stanton earning the three points. Will Fazakerley scored in a 1-1 draw in our last visit there in September 2019.
Josh Addison is set to join Tom Strawbridge on 140 appearances, putting them joint-20th in the all-time list. Charlton Gauvain should return after missing the Horsham defeat, but Ben Solway is unavailable and Matt Loaring, Simon Arnold, Tom Vaudin, Jacques Vaudin and Niall Hainsworth all remain on the injury list.
Saturday’s match kicks off at 2pm. Fans not making the journey to Hanbury Park in West Sussex can watch the first half live on our YouTube channel, with the second half available as audio only.
