Jamie Dodd is set to become only the second player to reach 400 appearances for Guernsey FC with both the men’s and women’s teams back in action this weekend.
Club captain Dodd follows Loaring into the 400s. Charlton Gauvain is also set to move clear of Alex Le Prevost into eighth in the all-time appearance list in reaching 203 games.
Tony Vance’s Green Lions are back at Victoria Park in a battle of the hat-trick heroes while Anna Gauvain’s Green Lionesses make the trip to new opponent Havant & Waterlooville.
For the men’s side, it’s a toughie as in-form Eastbourne United head to the island in the aftermath of Storm Goretti. The Whites only won two of their first nine games but their season clicked into gear in October and they won nine of the following 12. Much of this run has been boosted by the return to the club of Charlie Ball from Hastings United. Having scored 21 goals for Eastbourne last season before departing, he has nine in nine games since coming back, including two hat-tricks – though not quite as many as Sam Murray! It’s a return to last season’s form as the Whites finished third before losing in the play-off final to Crowborough Athletic.
For GFC, Si Arnold is knocking at the door for a return but it’s still a little early for Jacques Cauvin, Tom Vaudin and Niall Hainsworth. Brandon Wallace is available again after illness but hasn’t been able to train this week while recovering so will have to wait to see if he makes the 16. Some of those players are likely to get minutes for the Development side in their Jeremie Cup match against Jersey’s St Brelade on Sunday morning. Tom Dodds, Seb Vance and Matt Loaring remain sidelined and Ben Solway is unavailable.
The Sarnians could close the gap to second as Steyning Town are not playing, while leaders Haywards Heath Town have a tricky trip to Horsham YM, but lose and the Greens could be back down to fifth.
Please note that Saturday’s match kicks off at the slightly later time of 2.30pm. Fans unable to make it to Victoria Park can listen to full live commentary on Facebook Live or our @GuernseyFC X Space, as well as keep up to date with our social media posts.
Guernsey FC Women are in a mini slump having ended 2025 with four winless games. Their task to return to winning ways does not get any easier with a trip to a Havant & Waterlooville side very much in with a shout of being the best of the rest (with Farnham Town running away with the league).
With Calleigh Hedley now out of action for at least a year, there are a few candidiates Anna Gauvain could task with leading the line, including the likes of Codie Le Flem, Ruby Smith, Heidi Dawber or Amy Dallamore.
There is some experience missing with Vicki Rang and Aimee Ogier not travelling and Rochelle Mullen joining Elise Le Lacheur on the injury list, but current university student Scarlett Gallagher is a welcome addition for the trip to Hampshire having left the island for higher education in September.
The full travelling squad is as follows: Alana Hockey, Scarlett Kenneally, Jess Frampton, Steph Batiste, Mollie Watson, Scarlett Gallagher, Donna Gallienne, Candice Bougourd, Heidi Dawber, Ruby Smith, Codie Le Flem, Amy Dallamore, Kellie Creed, Eleanor Jamieson, Emily McCartney.
Havant have won half of their eight league games so far, having played two less than Guernsey with the two sides on the same number of points – but our 8-1 defeat to Farnham Town means we have an inferior goal difference.
Sunday’s match kicks off at 12.30pm. Fans not making the journey to Westleigh Park in Havant can watch the action live on our YouTube channel, or follow our usual social media updates.
A full match report will follow both games.
Leon Meakin’s GFC Development side face St Brelade at Victoria Park on Sunday in the Jeremie Cup quarter-final, with the match kicking off at 11am. Entry is £3 and tickets are available online.
