Experienced pair will share appearance record for now

Jamie Dodd is not giving up his achievement of Guernsey’s record appearance holder just yet as Ashford Town visit Footes Lane on Saturday.

Matt Loaring joined Dodd on 363 games on Tuesday, but the Green Lions skipper has been passed fit to play after injury, meaning the pair are likely to remain level for a little longer.

Kieran Mahon has also been declared fit to play after missing the midweek trip. Tom Dodds (ankle) is still a couple of weeks away, while Jacob Fallaize, Charlton Gauvain, Will Fazakerley and Ross Allen are still absentees.

Simon Arnold returns to club duties with Sylvans after making his deut against Chipstead, while Niall Hainsworth is set to build on his first game for the club.

The full squad is as follows: Addison, Hainsworth, Vaudin, Dodd, Alvarez, Merris, Vance, Mahon, Black, Rihoy, Loaring, Wallace, Wallbridge, Griffin, Domaille, Murray.

Guernsey need a positive result in order to avoid matching their longest losing streak of eight games, which occured early on in the 2017-18 season. A win would be unlikely to take them out of the relegation zone due to goal difference but a win would put them in a strong position to chase down the teams above them in midtable.

Ashford are 13th with two wins, two draws and three losses from their opening seven matches. The lost 3-0 at home to Chertsey in their last outing.

The Tangerines have become a bogey side for the Green Lions, who are yet to claim a point in four meetings. Their visit last season saw them snatch a goal in the 93rd minute to steal all three points, while their last meeting on the mainland ended 4-2 to Ashford, with Keene Domaille and Keanu Marsh getting the goals.

Saturday’s match kicks off at 2pm. Fans unable to make it to Footes Lane can keep up to date on our social media channels. Highlights on social media and YouTube will be avaible after the game, as well as a match report on the website.
