Guernsey run out at Victoria Park for their final warm-up outing ahead of the 2026-27 season on Saturday afternoon, hosting Leamington in what is hoped will be the start of a longstanding friendship between the two clubs.
The fixture marks the beginning of what both clubs hope will become a regular meeting, creating a lasting link between on and off the pitch. Leamington’s trip to the island has been made possible thanks to the generous support of the Illum Davis Foundation, whose funding has enabled the club to undertake the journey and strengthen this exciting new relationship.
Founded in 2022 by members of the Illum Davis family, the Illum Davis Foundation is a grant giving organisation that supports charitable causes in both Warwickshire and Guernsey. Since its formation, the foundation has made a significant impact through its support of several organisations including the Guernsey Society for Cancer Relief and Art for Guernsey amongst many others in the UK.
Therefore, this meeting will be to contest the first ever Illum Davis Foundation Trophy. Warwickshire side Leamington play at step 3 in the Southern League Premier Division Central, presenting a tough test for the Green Lions. They were relegated from the National League North at the end of last season.
Matt Loaring is injured, while Ross Allen, Sam Murray and Fin Du Port are unavailable, but Ben Solway, Seb Vance and Jacob Fallaize return to Tony Vance’s squad having missed the win over Sheffield in the Mike Thomas trophy at the start of the month. Fallaize missed the end of last season due to injury. There is another opportunity for youngsters to impress, with Alfie Torode and Tyrese Kelly included having both scored for the Development side in a 5-1 win against Belgrave Wanderers in the Spirit Cup last Sunday. Corey Brouard is also back in the island following is studies in the US. He made two appearances for the club while in the island last November and December, but a broken collarbone cut his season short.
