Guernsey were knocked out of the CCL Division One Challenge Cup after losing a thrilling quarter-final contest against a strong Cobham team in Surrey.

Connor McLaren gave the home side a half-team lead totally against the run of play, before that was doubled through the superb ex-professional Jamie Lawrence after the restart.

Ross Allen pulled one back for the Green Lions, although an unfortunate Angus Mackay own goal made it 3-1 to Cobham – the first ever own-goal scored by a Guernsey player.

Mackay made a contribution at both ends as he made amends by scoring GFC’s second, but it was not enough as the hosts marched on into the semi-finals.
