148Perhaps their exploits in 2013 so far caught up with them a little as a slightly tired-looking Green Lions were beaten at title challengers Egham Town.
Tony Vance’s side were unable to be roused by the presence of Southampton legend and club president Matt Le Tissier joining them for the pre-match warm-up. Jamie Read opened the scoring early on but Ross Allen levelled. Egham had two very credible shouts for penalties turned down before Luke Craig made it 2-1 before half-time.
Guernsey huffed and puffed in the second half but couldn’t find their way back into the game and Brendan Matthews made the points safe for the hosts in injury time.
