Ross Allen and Matt Loaring put the Green Lions into a 2-0 lead that they thoroughly deserved, although an injury-time goal meant Whitstable went in just one behind at the break.
GFC, who were the better side throughout, had chances in the second half to kill the game off and although they didn’t take them, still moved 14th in the table, three points off the top-five play-off spots.
