147Guernsey captain Sam Cochrane headed a dramatic winner in the 89th minute to get the Green Lions off to a winning start in 2015-16.
Dom Heaume had netted from close range in the first half to give GFC the lead, capping off a move begun by a terrifc crunching tackle and drive forward from Gus Mackay, but Tony Vance’s side were pegged back by a Ben Godfrey goal with 20 minutes to go. It looked like the game was headed for a draw before Cochrane rose to meet Marc McGrath’s corner.
Spanish midfielder Guille Fernandez came off the bench to make his debut for the club in the latter stages.
