164Guernsey were within seconds of finally having an FA Cup fixture in the Channel Islands on the calendar but conceded a late equaliser to Phoenix Sports that means they will first have to contest a ‘home’ replay that will take place on the mainland.
Having fallen behind to a corner in the first half, it looked like Ross Allen’s brace, one from the penalty spot, would be enough to see them through to a home tie against Lewes in the first-qualifying round.
But the Green Lions failed to adequately clear a corner in stoppage-time, with the ball delivered back into the area for Yacine Gnahore to head in an equaliser.
The replay will take place at Lewes’ Dripping Pan ground in Sussex on Wednesday.
