121There will be no FA Cup tie in Guernsey this year after the Green Lions failed to recover from an early setback in their ‘home’ replay at the Dripping Pan.
Two early lapses allowed Yacine Gnahore and Ricky Freeman to give Phoenix Sports the lead inside 10 minutes, leaving Tony Vance’s side with a mountain to climb.
Dominc Heaume turned in Ryan-Zico Black’s initial shot with less than 15 minutes left to give the Sarnians hope, but they could not find the elusive equaliser to force extra-time.
The game got bad-tempered at times, with Vance accusing one of the Phoenix Sports players of throwing a punch at one of his own.
Ross Allen went off injured towards the end of the game and is expected to miss a couple of games.
