A youthful Guernsey side fell to a 3-0 defeat at the hands of Southern Premier Division side Basingstoke Town.

Two new Green Lions were on show at Footes Lane, with Thomas Dodds and Jack Domaille making their debuts. Kyle Smith and Seb Skillen also returned after long absences, while Josh Steel made his comeback from a long term injury.

The visitors opened the scoring inside a minute, when Redford seized on a wayward pass from Mackay and beat Tardif at his far post.

Callahan made it two in the 63rd minute, pouncing on a loose ball after a scramble and slotting home.

Basingstoke added a third when Ashley Artwell fired past Chris Tardif in injury time.

All in all, Basingstoke provided stern opposition for the Green Lions, and many of the youngsters impressed in what was a good preseason game.
