Guernsey’s wretched away run continued with a heavy beating from Whyteleafe.

A disastrous three minute spell turned a promising afternoon into another miserable away day for Guernsey. Guernsey led after Loaring’s goal but just minutes before half-time two goals in quick succession sent the home side in leading.

GFC started well and Loaring opened the scoring for Guernsey with a near post volley.

Smith could have doubled Guernsey’s advantage moments after but his attempt went narrowly wide.

Addison had to be alert on the half-hour mark to prevent an equaliser, getting across his goal quickly to punch clear. From the resulting corner there was another narrow escape this time Ibrahim Akanbi’s attempt went just over Addison’s crossbar.

A rare mistake from Jamie Dodd resulted in the equaliser on 40 minutes. Andrew Mensah latched on to his short header ahead of Addison, rounding the Guernsey Stopper and slotting home from a tight angle.

Just minutes after the Leafe were in the lead against the run of play. Akanbi beat Dodd for pace and delivered a cross for Sam Clayton, whose volley went in off the post.

Just after the restart Marc McGrath’s effort trickled just wide.

Mensah was the first to react to a defensive mix up in the box to beat Addison to the ball and get his second of the afternoon.

It got worse for the Green Lions with a few minutes left on the clock. John Scarborough, who had seen an earlier effort cancelled out by the referee got his goal.

The Leafe weren’t finished yet, Scott Day topped off a strong performance to make it Whyteleafe 5-1 Guernsey FC.
