Guernsey FC Women strengthened their grip on the JFA Women’s Combination title but were made to work for their 3-0 win over Rozel Rovers on Sunday.
Captain Candice Bougourd’s outstanding lob from distance gave the Green Lionesses an early lead, doubled before the break as Codie Le Flem cut in from the left, beat a defender and found the top corner from just outside the box, making her the second player to hit double figures for the club.
Anna Gauvain’s side dominated the second half but could only add one more to their tally as Calleigh Hedley’s cross was converted by Amy Dallamore.
GFCW now have eight wins out of eight in the league and can now look forward to their final four league matches in front of their own fans. It now seems a question of when they will be lifting the trophy, rather than if.
