Guernsey’s left-hand side has a double boost this weekend as Joe Alvarez and Tom Martin return to the squad for the visit of another promotiong chasing side in Binfield.
Left-back Alaverez has been missing since mid-November with a groin injury for which he had to wait a long time for the results of a scan. It will be his 10th appearance of the season if he gets some game time.
The versatile Tom Martin had to wait longer than planned to make his return to the squad. His original suspension for his red card against Chertsey Town in October was extended, but only recently, meaning he had to sit out another few games. It has been a frustrating season for him with just one appearance, in which he was sent off in the first half, but he will behoping this marks a U-turn in his year.
Keanu Marsh and Liam Mahon both sit out again after missing the trip to Northwood last weekend, but Dave Rihoy is reinstated, along with Jason Martin to make up a full 16.
Kieran Mahon will miss a few weeks with the knee complaint he aggravated against Marlow. Keene Domaille will be hoping to build on his first goal of the season last weekend.
Tony Vance’s full squad is as follows: Addison, J Martin, Vaudin, Fallaize, Dodd, Alvarez, T Martin, Dodds, Merris, Rihoy, Loaring, Hale, Allen, Wallace, Domaille, Murray.
The Green Lions faced Binfield for the first time last year, with Domaille’s first goal for the club snatching a point away from home, while a ‘streetwise’ Moles side came away from Footes Lane with 3-1 victory a little over a year ago.
Binfield are one of the form teams with four wins in seven games since the turn of the year. They sit in fifth with games in hand on the all the teams above them.
The Sarnians have lost their last two, to Marlow and Northwood, but won the two games before that against Sutton Common Rovers and South Park since, and have played well in the two defeats.
Saturday’s match kicks off at 2pm. Fans unable to make it to Footes Lane can follow the action on our social media channels, or catch up with the GFCTV highlights later in the weekend. A full match report will be on the website after the game.
