Guernsey FC Women hit the road for the first time since joining the UK women’s football pyramid as they head to the south coast to face Bournemouth Sports Reserves on Sunday.
It is still too early in the season to determine where the Green Lionsesses stand at this level so they continue to travel into the unknown, but Anna Gauvain’s side can take confidence from their 7-5 opening day win over Wimborne Town. Calleigh Hedley will take some beating in the race for the Golden Boot having bagged a double hat-trick at Victoria Park last Sunday.
Jess Frampton is set to reprise her emergency goalkeeper role that she volunteered for in the Women’s Muratti following injuries to Kayleigh Marquis and Emma Queripel, who both remain out while Steph Batiste is unavailable. Rochelle Mullen isn’t travelling, but defender Mollie Watson could make her first appearance of the season.
Codie Le Flem is set to become the first player to reach 20 appearances for the club.
The full travelling squad is as follows: Scarlett Kenneally, Scarlett Gallagher, Mollie Watson, Aimee Ogier, Vicki Rang, Heidi Dawber, Candice Bougourd, Jess Frampton, Jessie Staples, Emily McCartney, Donna Gallienne, Adrienne Leech, Elise Le Lacheur, Codie Le Flem, Calleigh Hedley.
Bournemouth Sports Reserves narrowly lost out to AFC Stoneham on opening day last Sunday. They finished eighth out of nine in the league last season. They play at Bournemouth Sports Club Development.
Sunday’s match kicks off at 12.30pm. Fans can keep up to date with the action through our social media posts on our X and Facebook accounts. A match report will follow.
