Kyle Smith may be missing out from the trip to Chipstead on Saturday, but Tony Vance has a more-than-capable replacement with striker Robbie Legg coming into the squad.
Smith is away on a trip booked long before it was announced the Green Lions’ season would get underway at short notice, so will not be able to build upon his goal in GFC’s season opener against Sutton Common Rovers last Saturday.
Also hoping to make his first appearance of the season is left-sider Tom Martin, who had to pull out of that game with an injury. Dave Rihoy isn’t travelling, but the rest of the squad is made of those who were involved at Footes Lane last weekend.
Squad: Walker, Kelly, Tobin, Strawbridge, Le Tocq, Graham, Dodds, Martin, K Mahon, Acey, L Mahon, Gauvain, Loaring, Allen, Legg.
The Sarnians lost their last outing in the UK, 2-1 to Hythe Town way back in February 2020, but the three away games before that, they had collected two wins (VCD Athletic and Three Bridges) and one draw (Chichester City) without conceding a goal. Depending on other results, GFC could jump up to 14th with a victory.
A draw in midweek with early high-flyers Marlow sees Chipstead in seventh with two wins, two draws and three defeats in their opening seven games. The are into the third qualifying round of the FA Trophy but are out of the FA Cup. Their dangerman up front is Tom Collins, who has 11 goals to his name already this season.
Saturday’s match at High Road kicks off at 12.45pm. It will be available to watch in full for free on GFCTV, with highlights and a match report to follow over the weekend.
