Guernsey will get their 2022-23 Isthmian South Central campaign started at Footes Lane as they welcome Thatcham Town for the season opener on Saturday 13th August.
That fixture last season finished in a 2-2 draw. Our first away trip of the season comes just four days later with a midweek trip to Sutton Common Rovers, where Tony Vance’s side won 2-0 in January. Rovers were also our first opponents of the season at Footes Lane, with Kyle Smith and Ross Allen (2) getting the goals in a 3-1 victory.
There are a few weekend off in the opening two months of the season due to FA Cup and FA Trophy fixtures, neither of which GFC are playing in, while Boxing Day sees the Sarnians visit Tooting & Mitcham United. Our New Year fixture is at Footes Lane, with South Park the visitors.
Our final game of the season is away to Bedfont Sports, where Vance’s side put up a strong fight before being killed off late on to lose 3-1.
Some notable fixtures include our first ever clashes with Southall. We are away to the West London side on Saturday 27th August, while they will make the trip to Guernsey on Sunday 26th March.
We are looking forward to a reunion with Leatherhead (home Sat 17th Sep, away Sat 4th March), Merstham (away Tues 20th Sep, home Weds 15th Feb), Walton & Hersham (away Sat 10th Dec, home Sat 8th April) and Hanworth Villa (home Sat 17th December, away Sat 1st April).
