Guernsey go in search of their 900th goal in their history when they head to Basingstoke Town on Tuesday night.
Tom Jackson’s headed equaliser against Uxbridge on Saturday put the Green Lions on 898, but Tony Vance would settle for one goal at the Winklebury Sports Complex if it is enough for three points against a strong side they played out a 4-4 classic with at Footes Lane back in January.
In fact, just a point would be enough to move from 14th up to 12th in Isthmian South Central if Ashford Town lose to Marlow. Three points would put the Sarnians in contention to move into the top 10 with a win over Chertsey Town this weekend. Guernsey have three wins from their last six games, a form guide that matches their opponents.
A win for the hosts would give them at least a four-point cushion over the sides trying to take their place in the play-offs. Their last outing saw them defeated 3-0 by a resurgent Sutton Common Rovers.
Conor Lynch and Stefan Brown got a brace each at Footes Lane, with Kieran Mahon and two from Allen replying for the hosts before Glenn Le Tissier came off the bench to score his first goal for the Green Lions and earn a point.
