Leamington Football Club and Guernsey Football Club are delighted to announce that next week’s pre-season friendly at Victoria Park will be played for the inaugural Illum Davis Foundation Trophy.
The fixture, kicking off at 3pm on Saturday 25th July, marks the beginning of what both clubs hope will become a regular meeting, creating a lasting link between Leamington and Guernsey both on and off the pitch. Leamington’s trip to the island has been made possible thanks to the generous support of the Illum Davis Foundation, whose funding has enabled the club to undertake the journey and strengthen this exciting new relationship.
Founded in 2022 by members of the Illum Davis family, the Illum Davis Foundation is a grant giving organisation that supports charitable causes in both Warwickshire and Guernsey. Since its formation, the foundation has made a significant impact through its support of several organisations including Molly Ollys, The Brakes Community Foundation, Our Jay Foundation and LWS Night Shelter in Warwickshire, along with the Guernsey Society for Cancer Relief and Art for Guernsey amongst many others.
Max Passantino, Club Secretary at Leamington FC, said: “Opportunities like this don’t come around very often and we’re delighted to be part of what we hope is the beginning of a long and successful relationship with Guernsey FC, bringing our two communities together. We’re excited to visit Guernsey, experience the hospitality the island is renowned for, and are honoured to play in this inaugural Illum Davis Foundation Trophy, a fantastic organisation that makes a massive difference in Warwickshire, Guernsey and across the country.”
The inaugural Illum Davis Foundation Trophy reflects the foundation’s commitment to bringing communities together and creating meaningful connections through shared opportunities.
Nic Legg, Communications and Commercial Director at Guernsey FC added: “We’re proud to be hosting the inaugural Illum Davis Foundation Trophy and to welcome Leamington FC to Victoria Park.
“This fixture is a fantastic opportunity to forge a new connection between our clubs, and we’re grateful to the Illum Davis Foundation for helping turn that vision into reality.”
The match also provides valuable preparation for the upcoming campaign, but beyond the football it represents the start of a relationship built on shared community values, friendship and a desire to create something lasting between the two clubs.
Leamington FC and Guernsey FC would like to place on record their sincere thanks to the Illum Davis Foundation for its outstanding support in making the fixture possible. Both clubs are excited to contest the inaugural Illum Davis Foundation Trophy and look forward to welcoming supporters to Victoria Park Stadium for what promises to be a special occasion.
