Following a run of just three home games in the last 15 matches, the Green Lions kick off a run of five straight games at Footes Lane by welcoming Ashford Town on Sunday afternoon.
The Green Lions will leapfrog their opponents with a win, in fact moving up two places to 12th in Isthmian South as Thatcham Town are not playing this weekend.
Tony Vance’s side will be looking to quickly banish the memories of Tuesday’s 6-1 defeat at South Park, which ended a gruelling run of midweek away trips. They have won one of their last seven.
Ross Allen’s penalty in midweek put the Green Lions on 899 goals in their history, so hopefully they will hit the 900 milestone on Sunday.
Ben Acey returns from suspension to boost the Sarnians’ midfield options, and the Green Lions also welcome back captain Jamie Dodd, playmaker Charlton Gauvain and forward Keene Domaille. Kieran Mahon is available for one more game before his three-match ban begins as a result of his late red card against South Park.
Vance had named 17 players to report for duty, which will be trimmed to 16 when the teamsheets are handed in.
The full squad is as follows: Hanley, McKane, Strawbridge, Dodd, Fallaize, Martin, Dodds, Rihoy, Jackson, K Mahon, L Mahon, Skillen, Gauvain, Loaring, Allen, Fazakerley, Domaille.
Ashford only have one win in six, but they have had a tough run themselves with champions Bracknell Town and promotion chasers Marlow and Basingstoke Town all in the mix. They beat Guernsey 3-2 with a late winner back in December, but Aaron McLeish-White, who scored twice that day and is their highest scorer this season with 16 goals, has since departed for Bracknell Town.
Sunday’s match kicks off at 2pm. Fans unable to make it to Footes Lane can catch highlights on GFCTV in the days following the game, and there will be a full match report on the website.
