Jackson rejoins Green Lions

Guernsey FC is pleased to announce that teenage midfielder Tom Jackson has rejoined the Green Lions, subject to international clearance from the Football Association.

The 19-year old is moving to the island next week and will be here for the remainder of the Isthmian South Central season.

Jackson, now 19 years old and 6ft 2in, last played for Guernsey FC in a superb win at high-flying Ashford United in December 2019, his first start and the last of three appearances.

A former AFC Wimbledon Academy player, Jackson signed for fellow Isthmian side Whyteleafe for the 2020-21 season, which was disrupted by Covid-19 and therefore saw his options limited.

After several months playing and training in Spain – for Malaga City in the Spanish fifth tier – he is keen to fulfil a wish to play regularly for Guernsey, where his grandparents live.He has also previously had trials with Colchester City.

Another link to the Green Lions is his godfather, GFC coach Steve Sharman, who is confident that Jackson will make a big impact in Guernsey.

“He can play anywhere in midfield and people won’t recognise him [physically] from the team that won at Ashford 30 months ago,” Sharman said. “He is a man now.”

Sharman sees bits of two island greats in his playing style: “I think he has got a bit of Chris Dyer about him but also Brian Knight. For a big lad, he is outstanding technically. He is going to push our midfielders very hard for a place.”
